the TEAM - meet Jacob, Mackenzie, Mary, and Emily

Jacob Deslongchamps is a bilingual speech-language pathologist with a Master's of Science in Speech-Language Pathology earned in 2021, complemented by a bilingual certification in Spanish from The University of Texas at El Paso. He started his career in the pediatric acute care setting, specializing in the NICU and PICU, where he focused on treating medically fragile infants and pediatric populations. Jacob now channels this experience into the early intervention population, finding fulfillment in providing treatment to children with communication and feeding disorders. In his leisure time, Jacob enjoys exploring various parks, trying out different coffee shops, and browsing local thrift stores. He is passionate about making a positive impact with the families he collaborates with in the Denver area.

Mackenzie Burns is a bilingual speech-language therapist with native-like proficiency in Spanish who has an extensive history working with the pediatric population, specializing in early childhood education and dual language acquisition. Before moving to Denver CO, Mackenzie graduated with a master’s degree with a position as a grant scholar for "An Interdisciplinary Project to Prepare Culturally Competent Speech-Language Pathologists to Provide Services to Children with Disorders" from North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in 2021. The service grant included specialized courses in rare pediatric neurological syndromes, providing parental education and counseling, classroom management skills, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) training programs to prepare her to be clinically competent when providing an all-encompassing professional perspective when treating children and their families. In addition, Mackenzie comes to us with specialized training and expertise working with children who are behaviorally complex (BEH), including children with exceptional learning styles and different abilities. On the weekends, Mackenzie is most likely to be found at home with her 2 cats, listening to a podcast, or looking for new stones in the mountains.
